Performance Testing
- Wire Collating
Performance testing is one of the most important ways
of checking that our products are up to standard. Random
samples of the finished product are collected from every
batch produced and then loaded into a variety of the most
popular makes of nail guns. Nails are then fired under
controlled conditions and the quality of firing is ascertained.
The tests are listed below.
Weld Integrity:
This tests assesses the strength of the weld that holds
the nail onto the wire coil. Full coils are fired into
an enclosed metallic collection bin and nails then retrieved
for analysis. Once fired from a coil, the nail must
retain portions of the wire coil (with the weld intact)
for a positive result to occur.
Splitting Test:
This test is used to determine the effects of the nail
characterisitc (shank-diameter, point configuration
etc. on the tendency for the wood to split whilst
the nail is being driven.
